If you’re anything like me, the best thing about moving into a new home is having a blank canvas to customize exactly to your liking. While the house-hunting process can be somewhat tedious, creating the perfect oasis, both functionally, and aesthetically, is thrilling. I had this opportunity just a few years ago in my home state of Pennsylvania where I created the perfect haven– a place where I can relax, cook, and host my friends and family—through the possibilities of modern design.
When exploring available properties, I had an idea of the perfect space in my head. I wanted something with roots. With character. Something that was a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When I stumbled across my new home, I noticed that it looked like a glass box in the middle of the woods, with a sleek, mid-century modern exterior that felt like the perfect space for creating my dream home. I was instantly hooked!
While the outside of the home is so special and appealing, the inside of the home was a different story. With a 1970s feel, tired finishes, and outdated appliances, walking inside the house was like entering a time warp. Despite the interior time travel, I couldn’t resist the allure of this unique home. Naturally, I embarked on a series of modern design renovations to turn what was somebody else’s house into my home.
Because the kitchen is the epicenter of any home (not to mention a major work-horse), it was extremely important that I invested in quality products—from cabinetry, to surfaces, and more. When it came to kitchen appliances, this meant finding a trusted line of modern, premium appliances that would not only complement the modern design of my home, but also function flawlessly.
Since I love to host friends and family, I began with the search for the perfect dishwasher. Just imagining the post-dinner cleanup is enough to set anyone on the path to find dishwasher bliss. And I had heard from just about everyone that I couldn’t go wrong with a Bosch dishwasher, but in my research I quickly learned that with Bosch, dishwashers barely scratch the surface of all they have to offer.
That’s when I started to think about all the other important appliance decisions I would have to make. I soon realized: Why piecemeal together a kitchen made of a variety of different appliance design styles when I could create a work of art with Bosch appliances? Even better, why not create a whole Bosch home?
This path to creating my Pennsylvania home was pure joy, and I’d love to hear about your renovation experience in the comments below. And be sure to check out this video for an inside look at my design point of view.
